Odisha rolls out self-enumeration facility for Census 2027; citizens can fill data onlineBhubaneswar: The self-enumeration facility for Census 2027 has been launched in Odisha, allowing citizens to submit their household and personal information online before enumerators visit homes for the survey.

Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati completed his own self-enumeration online and urged people across the state to participate in the national exercise.

In a message to citizens, the Governor said the census is an important national activity that forms the foundation for planning and development.

“On the commencement of Census 2027, I extend my greetings to the people of Odisha. As the first citizen of the state, I have fulfilled my duty by completing my self-enumeration and I urge everyone to do the same,” he said.


Self-enumeration portal open till April 15

Officials said the online self-enumeration facility is available through the official portal of the Office of the Registrar General & Census Commissioner of India.

Citizens can submit their household details online before the physical survey begins.

The self-enumeration portal will remain open until midnight of April 15, after which census officials will start visiting households.

First digital census in India

The upcoming census will be the first digital census exercise in the country, conducted by the Government of India.

For the first time, citizens can fill their census details online through a self-enumeration system. Officials said the data submitted online will later be verified by enumerators during their field visits.


House listing phase to start April 16

The House Listing Phase of Census 2027 will begin across all districts of Odisha from April 16 and continue till May 15.

During this phase, enumerators will visit households to collect basic housing information and verify the data submitted online.

More than 1 lakh trained enumerators and over 17,000 supervisors will participate in the census operations across the state.

Population enumeration phase in 2027

The Population Enumeration Phase will be conducted later from February 9 to February 28, 2027.

During this stage, detailed information about individuals such as age, education, occupation, and demographic details will be collected.

Citizens in Odisha can fill their census information online by following these simple steps.

Step 1: Visit the Official Census Portal

Go to the official census self-enumeration website provided by the government.

Step 2: Register or Login

Create an account using your mobile number and OTP verification.

After registration, login to the portal.

Step 3: Start Self-Enumeration

After logging in, select the Self-Enumeration option to begin filling your household details.

Step 4: Enter Household Information

Fill basic information about your home such as:

  • Address details
  • Type of house
  • Number of rooms
  • Availability of water and sanitation facilities

Step 5: Add Family Members

Enter the details of every member living in the household including:

  • Name
  • Age
  • Gender
  • Relationship with head of family
  • Education level
  • Occupation

Step 6: Review and Submit

Check all the information carefully before submitting.

After submission, a reference number will be generated for your record.
